Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) and Trust for Nature (TFN) have joined forces to develop and implement an on ground environmental recovery plan for the many TFN properties affected by the recent fires across Victoria.
The TFN properties are recognised as having highly valued natural assets often providing important habitat for some of Victoria’s most threatened species of flora and fauna.
As a result of recent fires many of these properties are in desperate need of immediate protection via erection of fences, erosion control works and extensive weed management and revegetation programs.
CVA as the leading community involvement organisation in the environmental industry has a large number of community based volunteers seeking to get involved in these activities following the devastation caused by the bushfires in recent months.
Over the comings months both organisations will work in partnership to identify the necessary works that need to be undertaken, seek financial support and harness this great resource of volunteers to go some way to restoring the environmental values on these properties.
All TFN properties are protected in law by conservation covenants but this did not protect them from this recent devastation and this program will ensure that the wider community can now play a significant role in bringing some of Victoria’s most important environmental locations back to health.
