Stewardship Program

Trust for Nature's Stewardship Program runs alongside the organisation's Covenanting Program.

Once a Conservation Covenant is registered on a property's title, a Trust for Nature representative meets with the landholder on-site to discuss future land management of the protected bushland.

Stewardship visits such as these help monitor the health of the remnant vegetation and assist landholders to address any threats to the vegetation or wildlife on their property.  Trust for Nature staff can help provide advice to landholders and information on accessing other incentives to protect their bushland for future generations.

Trust for Nature aims to visit each Conservation Covenant at least once every three years, but some covenants require more frequent visits.

After each stewardship visit, Trust for Nature staff compile a Stewardship Report.

Trust for Nature receives some funding from the Australian Government's Natural Heritage Trust to run its Stewardship Program.  This funding is channelled through Victoria's 10 catchment management authorities, with whom Trust for Nature works closely.

But Trust for Nature also requires your help to ensure its Stewardship Program remains vibrant.  Please consider a donation to Trust for Nature continue this important program.
