Help strengthen Land for Wildlife

Land for Wildlife plays a powerful role in conserving Victoria’s biodiversity by supporting private landholders to protect, restore, and enhance native vegetation and wildlife habitat—voluntarily and at no cost.

In 2025, this iconic program was formally transferred from the Victorian Government to Trust for Nature, and we are honoured to continue its legacy.

Private land makes up two-thirds of Victoria, and much of our remaining native vegetation is found there. Without programs like Land for Wildlife, many species would lose critical habitat. Members actively care for bushland that provides food, shelter, and breeding grounds for wildlife including threatened species.

Land for Wildlife is already a powerful movement, but with your support, we can continue strengthening the program.

Protect habitat forever

For over 50 years, Trust for Nature has worked alongside Victorians to create a future where our native plants and animals can be valued, protected and thriving.

As one of Australia’s oldest conservation organisations, we have unique powers enshrined in legislation to protect Victoria’s natural wonder forever, help meet biodiversity targets locally and globally, and to mitigate the effects of climate change.

In 2025, it was announced that the iconic Land for Wildlife program would be transferred to Trust for Nature. Land for Wildlife members will get even more support to protect wildlife habitat on their properties through the transfer, by getting access to Trust for Nature expertise and educational resources to help landowners identify, protect and enhance habitat for native plants and animals on their properties.

By donating to Land for Wildlife, you will help us strengthen and grow this movement, building a resilient, connected landscape where people and wildlife can thrive – now and for generations to come.

For you.

For your family.

For future generations.

For the world.

The wonder of nature, and everything nature has to offer, has been given to us as a gift.

Each one of us is responsible for taking care and looking after the natural wonders of Victoria — from rainforests to deserts, coasts to mountains.

In the face of climate change and continued vegetation loss, Trust for Nature’s role is increasingly important in preserving Victoria’s remaining native habitat.

Only with your help will we be able to maintain and protect these wonders forever.
