About the Program
Since 2016, Trust for Nature has worked across Victoria to provide conservation training for First Peoples. The Warreen Beek Rangers Program is designed and delivered in partnership with Traditional Owner groups and Trust for Nature, and provides culturally endorsed, TAFE accredited training.
Students who successfully complete the course graduate with a Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, delivered through Holmesglen Institute of TAFE.

Every Friday, Warreen Beek Rangers step onto Country for a day of hands‑on learning, cultural connection and environmental care.
These sessions are organised and delivered by the Trust for Nature team. A typical session includes:
Specialist facilitators – Elders, ecologists and land management experts guide practical field activities
Cultural learning – knowledge shared directly from Traditional Owners, including stories, seasonal practices and cultural protocols
Support for Aboriginal businesses – through catering, guest presenters and suppliers
Mentoring and leadership development – building confidence, identity and work readiness
These weekly sessions are central to the program, providing real-world experience that prepares participants for careers in conservation.

To continue delivering the Friday on‑Country sessions, which are the heart of the program, Trust for Nature must raise $80,000 per year.
This funding supports:
– Weekly on‑Country ranger sessions
– Cultural facilitation and Elders’ participation
– Transport, equipment and safety
– Student mentoring and engagement
– Program coordination and delivery
These sessions are what make the program unique – grounding learning in culture, Country and practical experience.
