Trust for Nature is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to protecting nature in Victoria. About the role

This role presents an exciting opportunity to help shape and manage the newly introduced BushBank program that will fund revegetation and restoration in strategic locations across Victoria. Delivered by the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), the BushBank program will have multiple streams. This position will be the key Trust for Nature representative working within the multi-million dollar Private Land Restoration stream, which will implement long term land management agreements that restore private land to increase carbon sequestration.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Trust for Nature representative on the BushBank Program Design Group (with DELWP)
  • Program consultation and co-design
  • Expression of Interest guidelines, with supporting materials
  • Working with partners to identify co-funding opportunities for projects funded under the program
  • Overseeing implementation of program within Trust for Nature
  • Setting up financial reporting, documentation and other systems and processes required for implementing program from Trust for Nature’s perspective

 

This is a new role for Trust for Nature; the exact responsibilities of the role will be dependent on the capabilities and experience the successful candidate brings. Therefore we have applied a range to this position of FTE $89,153 – $102,865 plus 9.5% superannuation.

About you

We are searching for someone who is motivated to make change and who thrives when working independently on projects. The ideal candidate will come with experience working in the land restoration sector and have an in-depth understanding of environmental program design.

 

We are seeking candidates who have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental management, public administration, law or other relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in the land restoration sector, ideally within Victoria
  • Good understanding of environmental market based instruments and tender programs
  • Familiarity with the key players within the Victorian and Australian land restoration and nature conservation sectors
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
  • Well-developed communication and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in self-directed work with limited supervision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and moderate level IT skills

Trust for Nature is seeking a Conservation Officer for the North East region in Victoria. Based out of Wangaratta and reporting to the North East Area Manager, the Conservation Officer is responsible for delivering strategic conservation actions, assisting with the delivery of the Bush for Birds project, and implementing the Stewardship Program.

In the role of Conservation Officer, you will;

  • Support the Area Manager and team to deliver programs and projects in the North East Area.
  • Undertake on-ground works monitoring in accordance with best practice management.
  • Provide technical advice on management of native vegetation communities.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with partners, landholders and the community.
  • Undertake targeted extension with landholders.
  • Undertake site assessments using specific methodologies and record data.
  • Create basic site maps using GIS platform.
  • Support the delivery of field days.

This role is a part time (0.8FTE) fixed term position for 12 months and may continue subject to funding availability.

The full time base salary is $63,788 per annum, plus 9.5% superannuation, plus travel costs.

About you

We are searching for someone who has both a technical and generalist understanding of issues relating to the protection and management of native habitat in Victoria. Someone who is qualified and experienced in environmental science and/or natural resource management and has demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and establish good relationships with landholders.

The ideal applicant will have a strong commitment to biodiversity conservation, good general skills in native plant and animal identification, a background in natural resource management, and have excellent interpersonal skills.

This role requires that you have a drivers licence. The use of your own vehicle may be required at times.

Trust for Nature is seeking a Senior Conservation Officer for the East Gippsland region based out of Bairnsdale, Victoria. Reporting to the Gippsland Area Manager, The Senior Conservation Officer is responsible for implementing the Stewardship Program and assisting with project management and delivery.

In the role of Senior Conservation Officer, you will;

  • Support Communities & Habitat in Fire Impacted Landscapes
  • ensure quality and timely project outputs, and contribute to budget management and reporting for the project
  • assist in the delivery of on ground project works through contractors and landholder agreements
  • maintain and foster relationships with funding partners, project partners and the broader NRM community, including covenantors
  • monitor vegetation condition on covenanted properties and engage landholders in the monitoring program
  • deliver stewardship visits within the region as part of the project and other core Trust for Nature programs, including promotion of the program and site assessments
  • compile management plans for habitat on private land and data management in Salesforce;
  • undertake spatial reporting for projects, using ArcGIS for management plan mapping and monitoring
  • input into policy and procedure development, TfN events and promotional activities and support for volunteers;

 

This role is a part time(0.8FTE) fixed term position for 12 months (March 2021- March 2022) and may continue subject to funding availability.

The full time base salary is $72,012 per annum, plus 9.5% superannuation, plus travel costs.
