The federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water designs and implements the Australian Government’s policies and programs to protect and conserve the environment, water and heritage and promote climate action. The environmental framework is delivered under four pillars: clean air, clean water, clean land, and national heritage.
Trust for Nature works with the Australian Government in a number of areas including: implementing commonwealth offset sites; working closely on protected areas; and informing policy.
The Australian Government’s National Landcare Program has supported Trust for Nature’s regional projects in many areas of the state, including the Plains for Wanderers project, in partnership with the North Central Catchment Management Authority, and the Bush for Birds project, in partnership with the North East Catchment Management Authority.
The Australian Government provided funds to support recovery following the Black Summer Bushfires of 2019/20.
