Project

Protecting the South East Coastal Ranges

For over 50 years, Trust for Nature has worked in partnership with private landholders to protect Victoria’s unique plants and animals and the diverse habitats they need to survive. Covenantors in East Gippsland play a crucial role permanently protecting native ecosystems and habitat on private land in Eastern Victoria, collectively protecting over 5,000 ha of native habitat.

Trust for Nature is currently seeking expressions of interest from new landholders who want to permanently protect the native habitat and the ecological values on their properties.

In partnership with the East Gippsland Catchment Management Authority, Trust for Nature has funding through the South East Coastal Ranges Project to cover the cost of covenant registration. Properties larger than 40 ha may be eligible to receive an incentive payment of $1000 per hectare (up to $20,000). Please note, there are currently limited opportunities and funding available, with expressions of interest being followed up and considered as received.

Please see further information about the South East Coastal Ranges Project here, and our conservation covenant FAQs here, which you are welcome to forward on to anyone who you think may be interested.

Expressions of interest can be submitted online via our website here: Become a Covenantor. Please contact Trust for Nature’s East Gippsland team at the earliest convenience for further information, contact details below. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to conserving the ecological values on private land in East Gippsland.
