This lovingly restored property protects two significant vegetation communities: endangered Swampy Woodland and vulnerable Herb-rich Foothill Forest.
The property provides habitat for the endangered Southern Brown Bandicoot and within the woodland are Eastern Swamp Rats, while overhead are Black-shouldered Kites, Wedge-tailed Eagles, Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos, and the endangered Gang-gang Cockatoo. The Grey Goshawk is also known in the area. Tea Tree Creek runs through the property supporting turtles and crayfish.
The beauty of this property is that it is small enough to manage, but large enough to support diverse native plants, wildlife and landscapes that are increasingly hard to find in this part of Victoria, which is under increasing development pressures.
The three-bedroom house sits on top of a hill surrounded by fruit trees and veggie garden. Popular Mt Cannibal is just two kilometres to the north and Garfield has regular trains to the city. This is a wonderful sanctuary with convenience and it’s looking for new stewards to enable the bush, creek and wildlife to continue to thrive.
