Raymond Island
Raymond Island is a special place in the Gippsland lakes, accessible from Paynesville by ferry.
This property is one of two adjoining covenants for sale, containing some of the last remaining intact parcels of native vegetation on the island. Home to the critically endangered Robust Spider-orchid (Caladenia valida) within a 5-acre fenced site, one of only a handful of populations across the state. The community are working together, along with the Royal Botanic Gardens, to protect this population.
Both covenants are heavily treed with mature Mahogany E. botryoides as the dominant canopy tree.
The Vegetation is classed as Damp-sands Herb-rich Woodland, which has a conservation status of “vulnerable” in this area.
An area has been set aside for the construction of your perfect home (STCA). There is no supplied power, water, reticulated sewerage or phone.
It is beautiful country surrounded by Lakes Victoria and King on the Gippsland Lakes in close proximity to Paynesville and the regional centre, Bairnsdale.
