Situated on the edge of Jilpanger Conservation Reserve this very special covenant contains approximately 22 ha of Casuarina obesa, the largest known stand of this species in Victoria, and of immense significance to the State’s botanical heritage. Walking through this magical ‘forest’ is otherworldly. On your traverse of this area you will also encounter three extensive ‘black grass’ ephemeral wetlands where the clay soil is the perfect home for Billy Buttons, Broughton Pea and blue Eringium. Adjacent to a regenerative plantation of species grown from local seed, are areas of Kangaroo and Wallaby Grasses, Buloke and Cherry Ballart. A diverse range of vegetation means that birds such as Emus, Blue-winged Parrots, White-fronted Honeyeaters, Striated and Spotted Pardalotes and Brown Treecreepers regularly appear in Birds on Farms surveys.

Approximately 20 ha of arable grazing/cropping land to the east of the block, provides a view of Mt Arapiles/Djurrite.
