When Trust for Nature purchased Neds Corner Station on Ngintait Country in 2002 the land had been degraded by over a century of grazing and cropping. Since then the changes have been remarkable.

Since we took over management of the property, Trust for Nature has worked with partners and supporters to improve and maintain habitat on Neds Corner Station. Grazed areas have been restored and revegetated and pest animals controlled.

These achievements would not have been possible without the passion, dedication and support of many.

Trust for Nature’s vision to purchase and protect the property was enabled by a number of forward-looking supporters including the RE Ross Trust, the Federal Government’s National Reserve System and The Nature Conservancy. Since then, the support of foundations, volunteers and donors has helped us restore this precious conservation reserve, including the refurbishment of the homestead and other buildings, the installation of solar panels, the creation of a virtual herbarium and significant habitat restoration.

In particular we acknowledge property managers Colleen and Peter Barnes, who have lived and worked on Neds Corner since 2008. They have been responsible for some remarkable achievements, including the revegetation of all former cropping land, the creation of a 500 ha predator and herbivore-free enclosure, and the discovery of at least 21 species new to science.
