Candlebark Rises

Home on the range

Under two hours’ drive northeast of Melbourne in the Strathbogie Ranges, this 20.5 ha bush block runs east/west and is bisected by a spring-fed creek running north/south. The west facing area is on a slight slope and dominated by Narrow Leaf Peppermint and Messmate with an open understorey of Cassinia, Musk daisy bush and Prickly Currant Bush. The creekline contains beautiful tree ferns and with a canopy dominated by Manna Gum. Amenities

Along a stretch of road with other similar properties that enjoy stunning views, the property is within easy reach of Seymour and Yea. Highlands has a CFA Depot and Community Hall, with tennis court attached.

Active organisations include the School Council, Hall Committee, Highlands-Caveat CFA, Land Care, the Purple Sage Group, Highlands Arts Experience (HiArts), Spinning Group, Highland Scribblers and Highland Ramblers.

Regular train services to Melbourne and the northeast, including to Sydney, all operate out of Seymour. A regular bus service to and from Melbourne comes through Yea. School buses service the area travelling to Yea and Seymour schools.

Seymour and Yea are the closest shopping areas, with supermarkets in each town open seven days a week. Most other small shops close lunchtime Saturday. Larger shopping areas are located at Wangaratta and Shepparton approximately 90 minutes away, with Melbourne less than 2 hours away.
